THEHOPE Program aims to develop a culturally appropriate and context- bespoke intervention for early identification, referral and management of First-Episode Psychosis (FEP) in the adolescent population in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in Pakistan and evaluate its feasibility for implementation.
It will help to prevent long-term consequences of untreated psychosis, which on average remains undiagnosed and untreated for over two years in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) in young persons.
It involves traditional and spiritual healers (TSH) working collaboratively with primary care practitioners (PCPs) through task shifting for early detection, referral and treatment of FEP

THEHOPE Is collaborative initiative of KEELE UNIVERSITY UK, KHYBER MEDICAL UNIVERSITY PESHAWAR and LADY READING HOSPITAL PESHAWAR (PAKISTAN), funded by MEDICAL RESEARCH COUNCIL UK, which aims to develop culturally appropriative interventions to involve Traditional and Spiritual Healers (TSH) to work together with Primary Care Practitioners and Psychiatrist through task shifting for early detection, referral and treatment of First Episode of Psychosis (FEP)
LADY READING HOSPITAL, PESHAWAR
It was established in 1927 and it is just 200 meters away in the south of the Grand Trunk Road, behind the famous historical Qila Balahisar. Famous MasjidMuhabat Khan,Ander Shehr bazaar, Qissa Khawani bazaar and Khyber bazaar is across the road of LRH. LRH is just outside historical wall in the jurisdiction of cantonment board. The anecdote of the hospital of its coming into being is that His Excellency Lord Reading, viceroy of India from 1921 to 1926, happened to visit Peshawar.
